Business Studies

Business Studies is an option taken at GCSE level in years 10 and 11. It is also available as a single award or double award sixth form option.

At key stage 4 students follow the Btec Business First award course which looks at a wide array of subject matters including customer service, brand promotion, business ownership and organisation and also business finance. 75% of the course is currently assessed between 3 separate units of coursework with the final 25% as an internal exam. During the 2 years students will have the opportunity to research and evaluate established international businesses alongside a range of local businesses.

Our key stage 5 students follow the Cambridge Technicals qualification studying marketing, marketing strategy, international business strategy, accounting and finance through a number of coursework based tasks alongside 3 examined units. All students have the opportunity to take part in a number of extra curricular activities such as the student investor challenge and the young enterprise competition.
