PSHCCEe

Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship, Careers and Economic Wellbeing education is a central part of the curriculum here at Goodwin Academy.
We are fortunate enough to be able to deliver this extremely valuable subject in weekly 1 hour lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 and through curriculum immersion days and enrichment lessons at Key Stage 5.
The programme is designed to allow students to develop skills to become positive members of society who are aware of their value and how they can become active citizens.
Students are encouraged to identify and explore local, national and international communities. Each of the topics covered is delivered in a way which guides students to use skills of self management, independent enquiry, communication, participation and reflection. All topics are delivered in an impartial manner, we want to encourage and equip students to make choices and form opinions of their own.

Year 8

Year 9

Students will also develop their career-related skills and interview techniques that are so valuable to their chosen future pathways. Students also is receive detailed and constructive careers information, advice and guidance and are helped at every stage of the Key Stage 5 application process, including guidance on apprenticeships and employment.

Enrichment and curriculum immersion days are used throughout the year to enhance and compliment the PSHCEe curriculum. Topics covered include e-safety, careers and employability, drug awareness, financial planning and relationships.

The sex and relationships education is delivered using the Christopher Winter Project’s classroom resources. The charity has a website if you would like to access any information: CWP Resources
