Carter House will celebrate the successes of all the students who strive to achieve their best in all aspects of their life in school. Carter students will be rewarded for efforts and achievement in all areas.
Students regularly earn BEST rewards for excellent work and inter-house competitions within subjects and extra-curricular activities. Carter House will lead the school in showing dedication and kindness and will promote achievement to all students and staff at Goodwin Academy.
Elizabeth Carter was an inspirational woman who could make a ‘pudding as well as translate Epictetus from the Greek and work a handkerchief as well as compose a poem’. She was an English poet, classicist, writer, translator, linguist, and polymath. Following in Elizabeth Carter’s footsteps the students of Carter house will be supported through the following Goodwin gateways, resilience and persistence to ensure that Carter House students are the BEST they can be.
Persistence is a hard habit to develop but at Goodwin Academy our teaching and support mechanisms allow students to grow in confidence, so when faced with a challenge or a fear that they perceive themselves unable to achieve, young people will learn to pick themselves up and carry on the path to success.
Thinking and communicating with clarity and precision. Students need to be able to communicate with each other and within our community outside of Goodwin Academy. Students need to learn the habits of communicating with adults, businesses and members of the public to be able to have a clear understanding of what they want to achieve for their school and Parkinsons UK.
The power of communication enables students to have a voice within society and it is essential that this is done with clarity and precision in order to have the greatest impact for all.
